yes you do
ETA: to clarify I am talking about the regular situation where the buyer is made an additional guest. I have no knowledge of when the buyer is made the primary that is not something that I brought up and honestly Im not even sure that it can be done. It might take a lot of HUCAing

It's not an issue at all to do but then it will then go under the status of the new person's name. I just did it using my husband's cert and I didn't want to be an "additional guest" because I knew my husband wasn't coming and had seen this hotel be very strict with others about it.

So then i.e. if the other person is not a Gold member, then they wouldn't get free breakfast at Waldorf Jerusalem. I guess best way to do it in this case would be to just add on a guest to retain primary members benefits

Correct and it seems like the WA doesn't make a big thing if the registered guest at the time of check-in.

Sorry was trying to say that from all accounts they don't seem to care if the registered guest isn't there at checkin.

Any solutions for getting discounted on spending for activities/food/upgrades charged through Hilton? Solution for discounted gift cards or something?

I'm not sure what you are asking. How to buy discount gc's ahead of time?  If you are a diamond you'all get approx. 30 ppd for everything you charge to your room (with base, double points, etc.) and an additional 12ppd paying with your Surpass card so that's a pretty darn good rebate to use for a future stay, i.e. If you spent 2k on upgrades and activities at the Conrad Maldives you'd end up with about 80k HHonors points from that.

I am trying to go for "fifth night free" I already booked a Monday-Thurs (3nights) and now I can book the Friday night (5th night) but the Thursday night isn't showing any availability. What's the best way of going about this? Can I book three nights and the one night separately and hope the thursday/4th night opens up? If I do go that way, can I easily call up and merge all the reservations together making the only night I don't yet have the "5th free night" or would Hilton have to cancel both reservations (risking not get them if they don't go back to inventory) in order to do it?

TIA
