I sold points about 3 months ago and the broker still did not use the points. Its still in my accounts. How long do i need to leave my passwords the same for him to have accesss? I did not sell my account away, i feel that i only sold x amount of points and as i gain more points in that account im leaving myeslf open to issues...

Anyone else had this?

Unless otherwise specified, it's industry standard that there's an understanding that the account is for stock. You can reach out to the broker with your concerns and maybe he'll be able to help you

Yes. It's outright theft, in my opinion.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

I sold many times and i never had this. In my opinion its a given that they will use it as soon as possible

And why theft? I will give him the points when he needs it.

You sound like a buyer. Do sellers really have that understanding that they are selling months worth of control over the account?

How exactly is it theft of the buyer has access to the bought product on demand? The seller did not relinquish his rights to a secure account.

FTR I have not bought of sold points in years.

You sound like a buyer.

I both buy and sell, depending on if I have what I need or need what I have.

Do sellers really have that understanding that they are selling months worth of control over the account?

That really differs by the type of account, but there are some accounts that brokers buy because they constantly have buyers for it (or often use it) and they like to have it in stock. Obviously, it's unpredictable exactly when it's going to be used.

How exactly is it theft of the buyer has access to the bought product on demand?

You have no idea who the broker sold the account to and who owns it now. When a person buys for stock instead of buying on demand, it's usually so that when they need, they'll have instant access. Being unable to login, and having to backtrack to the source of the account through various people who may not be available at the moment, is not called on demand access, and is not what was purchased.

The seller did not relinquish his rights to a secure account.

The seller does have the option to create a new account to accumulate miles. Many do this for this very reason, so they can wipe their hands of an account once it's sold.

The seller should reach out to the buyer, though. This shouldn't be a major issue to solve.

The question is not what the purpose of the buyer was but if the seller understood that he was selling for long term access. apparently he was not in this case. Someone who is buying for stock and to have instant access for a long time should make sure that this is what is being sold to them.
