I asked about this in other places.  It doesn't appear to correlate to Citigold funding.

Simon was a common denominator though.  Not saying that is definitively the reason, don't have enough data points. But the timing right after the Simon shakeups and such makes sense.

Link?

I went to FT just now and there's nothing out of the ordinary on the Simon thread.

You haven't read about the memo that was sent out to every Simon Customer Service office alerting them to BB shutdowns/M$ and spelling out exactly why people are purchasing the VGC's in quantities?

Why would BB shutdowns be relevant? The explanations of why people are doing it, that I get.

I read all about that. Simon has known for a long time what we were doing. The memo was to alert the CS reps at Simon that refunds would not be happening if customers came back and tried to return GCs after being shut down on BB.

If anything the volume of MS has gone down now at Simon due to the death of BB/Serve so they care even less.

Sounds really far out that Simon would be concerned with the BB/Serve aspect of this whole thing.

One blogger thinks he was shut down because he paid his balance from sources not linked to the Citi acct like Serve or other BP. What do you think of that?

highly unlikely or else 90% of this forum would have been shut down as well.

-1 I never paid directly from serve/bb.

Serve/BB always goes to a non churning related bank account

i cannot see a specific reason for the wave of shutdowns but MS is a red flag from many reports on other places

If that's the only card in that program you'll lose the points.

Using personal account for business. My MIL was shut down for using it for her small travel agency. Lost 450k TYP. No recourse. Even wrote Office of President.
Fair warning - Any PMs sent in response to forum posts are fair game for ridicule in public.

And that's why I try not to stockpile. Sigh.

Hey guys, so citi shut down my cards as well. On my account i had a retention offer of 3x LAST YEAR that i used aggressively (with redbird loads) and then continued to use the card on routine use and this year it gets shut (2/7/16) and they told me i had 60 days to use my TYP (346k!) and i call them today and they told me those all have been forfetied. And my wife's account also got shut (a retention offer this year for 3x) with only $500+ in all ROUTINE spend. Never any MO deposits. In fact my wife had a citi checking/savings account for nearly a decade that had 100K cash sitting in it for 3-4 years and that got shut about 6 months ago for no reason. The only churning I had done was the 100K citi AA card last year.  I think it was the fact that i paid with debit cards. What I care most now is that I was told I had 60 days to recoup my TYP  and now they're saying otherwise and I have a 0 balance. Did everyone here lose their TYPs and what recourse do we have, if any?

Sounds like writing a letter or complaining to CFPB is lost cause. Should I go straight to small claims? On FT, someone reported success with that approach (citi lawyers called 2 weeks prior to date to settle). Unfortunately, the most I can ask for is probably 1cpp at this point, if I am lucky. Thoughts? I appreciate the help.
