Looks like I late to the game with the 5/24 rule. What strategy can I still use to try and get cards at this point for my wife and I? Where is best place to look this over. My wife has a Freedom, Ink and Sapphire. I just canceled my BA and have no other chase cards.

The plan is to go for co-branded cards and hope to get auto-approved on at least one. Then, on to recon.

Co-branded are still possible. If you have au's on your report try to get those off.

Will me being an AU on two of my wife's cards make it more difficult for me to get approved .
Also will me being an AU on her cards make it less likely she will get auto approved at least
for her first application at Chase . ( She presently has 4 cards at Chase )

I believe the 5/24 rule is something that recon uses. Many people have gotten auto-approved for at least one card with well over 5/24 (without counting AUs). When calling recon, they could bring it up as in my case. When I told him about AUs he was able to differentiate between new accounts and AUs.

You being an au on her account shouldn't affect her chances.

I'm planning to apply for a bunch of Chase cards soon, before it's too late.
Some of them I've had before and gotten bonus in last 2 years, and some I've never had at all.

Does it make sense to apply first for the ones with bonuses I've already gotten, for greater auto-approval chances?

Not sure if this is the best place to put this or if this is news but was just declined for CSP with no hard pull because I received the sign up bonus within 24 months, not based on when I was approved.

I thought it always went by the bonus earn date, and not the approval date...

Is this something new?

Correct, by the bonus earn date, not approval date.

The no pull I think is news. The fact that it goes with when you receive it I'm not sure is news because they do say if you received the bonus in 24 months. I think everyone assumes its approval date but they actually write it out clear.

Its always been 24 months since signup bonus. The rep also told me that there was no hard pull. I'm not sure how that could be as I got approved for the BA. :)

So maybe DoC was wrong about this just like he was wrong about 5/24 starting to apply to Chase branded Biz cards in March...

Don't bet on it. (I like to think conspiracy theories about Chase Recon closing at 5 and being impossible to get ahold of.)
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

I would not call it "wrong". A) The month isn't over yet and recon has yet to open past 5pm EST B) Even if it is not hard-coded, there is a clear shift in reasoning and logic that Chase is now applying to approving cards that go through recon.

Maybe I misread it but it sounded like he said it would be as of the beginning of the month. So every night, between the hours of 5pm and 10pm, they're being taught the new policies?

I've opened a ton of cards in the past 24 months, and not once during my two recon calls today (both successful) did I hear "too many accounts" or something similar. Maybe I got lucky. Who knows.

You did.

As I said, it is not hard coded in any way but my wife as well as myself just a mere month ago got taught a lesson in their new schooling. My wife took 5 recons to get her one card and I also had to answer as to why I have so many new accounts and what they are for and that they are not comfortable with providing me with another product and believe I have sufficient credit and products with Chase.

I got my cards in the end but just due to a very nice guy after try number xx
