Not going to speak for HelpMe but I don't take his post as hate. It seems he is impressed with what you accomplished in your first year as all of us are. I think Dan even stated in some post that when the bloggers say this is free (tickets/hotels) that is not correct. Here is what I think he was referring to when he equated it with CB cards. Say he nets 20k in CB in x amount of time. He then takes his family to a vacation to X in first class and stays at the best hotel. This vacation costs 16k all in. Should he look at it as Amex paid him 4k to take his family on a first class vacation?

Unrealized gain isn't an expenditure. So, yes, his trip was essentially free. Why are people even picking nits over this?
