At what point does it become abuse?

Of all the ways to make money off credit cards- this seems to be one of the most legit ones?

If one guy is making 5k off SBS before 'everybody else' does it- then it isn't abuse?

of course he has a valid point, but it doesn't make the typical, moderate DDFer into treif.

i.e. Just because ice cream is Kosher and Cholov Yisroel and someone eats 100 gallons of it in public and makes a chillul Hashem,
the remaining moderate ice cream eaters are still eating Kosher. However, going extreme in certain areas is NOT appropriate.

Moderation = Kosher
Extreme = (ask your LOR) not so Kosher

about the pictures for sure a valid point,  but come on, blaming dan for not discouraging? amex loves the publicity, and i know of small businesses who would not accept amex because of their fees but because of SBS it makes it worth it to them, which is def part of amex's strategy

I think it has been largely exaggerated.

Dan surely isn't the blogger with most followers in this niche- and every pro miles/deals/cc blogger encouraged SBS.
The only difference is that Dan circle of influence is limited to a few regions as opposed to the others whose followers wouldn't necessarily fall into the same regions.

Which is why I brought it up. For people with stereotypes in their heads, everything they see will reinforce those stereotypes. And for people who don't care for stereotypes they see these things, chalk it up to a few opportunists (making more noise than is good for them) and then they move on...

Divining AMEX's SBS intentions is mindbogglingly naive.
-If they want to limit it, they'll cut the total registrations allowed, instead they quadrupled them.
-If they want to limit it they'll cut the bonus per card, instead they tripled it.
-If they want to limit it they'll stop AU registrations, they haven't done that but they always may in the future.
-If they want to limit it further they'll limit it to one reregistration per person or household, they haven't done that but they always may in the future.
So let AMEX make their own business decisions and stop feeling bad for a $100B company that makes a $30M marketing promo that is wildly successful in getting news coverage, obtaining new merchants, obtaining new cardholders, and gaining swipe fees as well.
