Space Heater recommendations
« on: February 14, 2016, 08:42:48 PM »
I'm looking to purchase a spaceheater for a (very small) baby bedroom. What kind of safety features should I look for? Does anyone have experience in this area?

TIA

I don't have experience, but this seems like a good place to start.

I use the oil filled radiators from a reliable brand. I feel they are the safest.

Are they hot to the touch? That worries me...

Which brand do you like?

I have this one.
Its hot but not burning hot.
Also, multiple settings, from very strong to mild.

Thanks! Would you feel comfortable leaving it in a baby's bedroom?

yes, but still be careful and keep out of reach. Occasionally feel the wire and make sure it is not overheating.

I'm considering going with this:
http://www.amazon.com/Vornadobaby-EH1-0089-57-Sunny-Nursery-Heater/dp/B00PXH6PD6
What advantages does that have over the typical ceramic heater?

Safety features like auto=shut off if it tips, the wire is hidden, it's supposed to be hard for kids to operate the switch...

auto shut off if it tips is pretty standard, hidden wire is semi-common.

Most of the models I was looking at didn't have it (maybe because I was looking at the $30 range at the beginning :) )

I've had success price matching quality ones that were out of stock elsewhere to best buy
