AA pilot's eye view of a three-day trip: BOS-CDG
« on: March 11, 2011, 10:56:53 AM »
This has been around for a while, but it's a fun video to watch for any airplane junkies.
Turn off your speakers if you don't want to hear the goyishe music :)

Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Anyone here think of becoming a pilot and getting paid to see the world for free?

I know two people who live in CH who are pilots (private licenses).

Are they DDF members? Do they do this for a business or just pleasure?
I've heard there is at least one member here who's a pilot (he'll announce himself if he wants).

Non members. I know one pilots wife reads DDFP. Both for leisure, I even got an offer to come for a ride.

I can, but considering he only has a few hundred flying hours under his belt, I'm hesitant about taking him up on the offer.

Few hundred is pretty good for a PPL

I was probably exaggerating, I don't know the exact number.

I went up with a friend in a tiny 4 seater plane in the summer. Probably one of the most exciting things I have ever done in my life. You cant understand it until you're up in the air...

They have groupons all the time for flying lessons. Just take a flying lesson. It's a lot of fun.

I got a ride in a six seater many years ago in the Catskill mountains and it was a great experience (although I nearly vomited twice on some of the dips...).

I would love to do it again.

This past summer my brother and I were in the White mountains of New Hampshire. I asked a nice pilot there if we can pay him for a ride around the mountains but he said he couldn't do it because his insurance (which is apparently very expensive) wouldn't cover us. He didn't think any of the other private pilots would do it either for the same reason.

Great idea. Did you see any near NYC?
