I've had EnergyPlus for almost a year.  Cost has been creeping up.  I called today to ask about changing to another provider and if there were any timing or fees to consider.  The rep said no, but if cost was an issue then she could check with her boss and find out if I could get on a lower cost plan and still earn Continental miles (3 miles per dollar spent).  Yes!  I'm saving about 40% off what they charged me this current billing cycle.  If you are in the same boat, then ask about the commercial acct possibity for residential.

no commitment you could cancel any time. by law i cant say we guarentey but last month we were 23% cheaper then coned. the way it works is that we buy the gas/electricity from the same place coned and we give it to coned to send to you so you only get one bill and we could be cheaper bec we have almost no overhead

Energy Plus - up to 12,500 miles to airline/program of your choice (+SPG)
« Reply #68 on: August 02, 2011, 08:20:16 PM »
I searched this forum but didn't see any postings regarding this. Though I do believe there is a discussion about this on FT.

Energy plus is a 3rd party energy provider. This offer varies by State, and is offered in only select states. (Most are available in NY.)

Beware that some of these 3rd party providers can rip you off. So do this at your own discretion.

I am not sure how long they have been offering these these bonuses, but it seems to be going on for a while now.

First, you can see here about the general program (but they only show some of their partners for some reason). http://www.energypluscompany.com/rewards/miles.php

For reference here are some links:

I got an offer for 15,000 united miles to switch to energyplus.

You have to keep the account with them in order to get the miles and there is another 2,500 miles for a gas account.

I know about all the skepticism, but is it worth it for this amount of miles?

I got my first bill with Energy Plus. I haven't been able to compare directly to ConEd's rate's yet, but the per kWh for supply looks ok. Now that I'm in the second month, I'm going to call and get switched back after the month is over. I just have to do a little research on whether there are any ESCO's with consistently better rates than ConEd.

Also, I think my offer was for 7500 AAdvantage points. I wonder if I can get them to match to the 10000 offer? Anyone have any experience trying this?

Which signup bonus should I take?
« Reply #76 on: October 26, 2011, 05:01:24 PM »
I got an offer in the mail last week to earn 7,500 Starwood points if I switch to EnergyPlus for my energy company (I live in NY state).  The next day Continental sent me an email saying I would get 15,000 miles if I signed up for EnergyPlus.

I contacted EnergyPlus (of course) to ask about getting both bonuses and was told each account only gets one signup bonus.

I am inclined to take the 7,500 Starwood points but only because I've gotten the impression their value is more than twice the CO miles. I have never sold miles so I don't know this to be a fact.  I have a ton of Starwood points and CO miles so I don't really NEED either of them.  What would you do?

You'd be best off to avoid signing up with EnergyPlus at all. Read peoples experiences with them here: http://www.dansdeals.com/forums/index.php?topic=608.0
