Regarding your booking number:

Dear Orbitz Customer,

We regret to inform you that, due to a technical issue, we were not able to issue tickets on your reservation. As a result, we have canceled the reservation and reversed any credit card charges.

The itinerary you requested included flights on different airlines. This is a very common practice and in most cases poses no challenge at all. Many airlines have agreements with each other which allows their flights to appear on the same ticket together.

However, in response to your search for flights, we included airlines that had no such agreement. When we attempted to issue the ticket, we were prevented because of this lack of agreement between the airlines. We sincerely apologize for this oversight and are working to prevent those airlines from being presented together in future search results.

We invite you to go back online or speak with one of our sales associates to make new reservations. Thank you for your business, and for your understanding.

Sincerely,

Orbitz Customer Service

Who's going to file the first DoT complaint?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

There were Airline Ticket Number in the confirmation emails.

So far only the last 2 bookings were cancelled. I booked a few as I wasn't sure when I was going to travel. I do expect them all to be cancelled. I'm guessing the guys in India are just really slow.

As far as my complain to DOT:

Hey Dot,

I'm really disappointed that this ticket that was obviously a price mistake was cancelled. Please contact the airline on my behalf and ask them to honor the ridiculously low fare. It completely ruined the plans that I didn't even have yesterday. In addition, please make a law that Dan cannot post deals that may get cancelled. He should first do his due diligence and only post deals that won't be cancelled.

Thank you for your consideration,

Shmuli

I have yet to receive any email, and on my orbitz account everything is looking good. Is there any hope left that some of them will stay untouched?

I have ticket numbers, as well as an airline record locator in the confirmation email. How would that help me?

Once you're ticketed it won't be easy for them to cancel.

You are right Dan. I just rechecked. The two flights that were cancelled were the last two bookings that didn't have ticket numbers. I must have been looking at the wrong ticket earlier. I haven't received cancellations for the bookings with ticket numbers.

Yes!

I'm asking because I had purchased a ticket on united for quite a hefty price, and it would still be worth it to eat their cancellation fee to get the rest of the money back...

I wouldn't want to cancel the United flight and then have this cancelled as well...

At what point can I consider myself safe?

No reports of ETKT cancellations anywhere, not on FT nor AFF nor here, etc.
I called airline customer service to add FFN's, request KSML and seating, all done without any dramas.
There's been zero comment by Virgin Australia and Orbitz thus far, so I think there's a good chance this'll hold.
Especially that Virgin Australia's been dealing the last 24-48 hours with the media fallout on account of a weird tweet on their twitter account, I hope they're too distracted with that.

For those who booked tickets and want to credit the miles to their Velocity account, make sure to activate this offer for triple points:
https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/Promotions/delta-triple-points/

Maybe someone can confirm, but I think these tickets booked into Class T, which has a base rate of 0.5 miles per mile flown on Virgin Australia, so tripled that would be 1.5 points per mile flown.
That seems better than crediting to Delta where the base rate is 0.5 miles per mile flown.
Any other ideas?

Doesn't look like VA T-class will get you more than 50% anywhere:
