question about comments on DansDeals blog

What's the "standard" for what comments are approved on a DansDeals post? I just posted a comment on 2 recent blog posts. One critical and one complimentary. One got approved and one didn't (you can guess which one). So I guess my question is (a) is there an official DD policy against negative comments, even if they aren't written in any kind of angry or disparaging way?, and (b) what incentive is there for people to post how they feel about posts if they are only approved when the moderator agrees with it?

Why is it fair that readers only get to see positive stuff that people post? That would give a flawed view of the blog. And for the record, I like 99 out of 100 posts I see. I am very grateful for DD and DDF.

There's plenty of "negative" in the comments.   Maybe you're comment about the GPS just doesn't add value or maybe they just haven't gotten to it yet and it will be approved later.

I approved the GPS comments before seeing this thread just now.

JJ preliminarily approves comments and I double back and check to approve the rest, assuming they're valid points and not just trolling.

probably very true. but i am really wondering if that is an "official" policy of DD. Many blogs publish standards or rule about comments so people can know ahead of time what comments are welcome, and what comments aren't.

or maybe they just haven't gotten to it yet and it will be approved later.

unlikely, since it was posted earlier than other comment that was already approved, and the positive comment was approved within a minute of posting, and 30 minutes after the negative comment was posted it still wasn't there.

Pretty much everything is approved assuming it's PG or below and not trolling. But there can be a lag based on what JJ approves and what I approve.

Comments on ad posts do not get approved if they point out that the ad isn't a good deal. True?

It depends, but moderation on ads is stricter than on regular posts.
But it works both ways, I just turned down as advertiser who didn't want any comments approved if they mentioned how they could get what he was offering for free. Felt too icky for me to take the ad under those terms.

To be honest, that is a good deal. Not one I'd make a post for, but you go try to beat that pricing for those dates.

That's actually the ad I was referring to, and last time they put it up I quickly looked at the same dates to MIA and their rates were bad.
