I don't see why it would. It will only be offered for a limited time anyway. It is a legitimate promotion to encourage people to sign up for their ff club. I have been using it thanks to Dan for the past year without any issues. It is just surprising that other airlines allow you to status match BMI without making you show your statement to prove that you have actually earned the status legitimately.

You'll get a confirmation e-mail that asks you to activate your account. The "confirmation page" basically just informs you that they'll be sending you an activation e-mail.

I'm confused Dan. Back in the old post when you put this up, people were commenting how they got an email saying that they needed proof that they were eligible for that promotion....why would this be any different?

They never actually needed proof last time.  Nobody got demoted.

OOOO sneaky of them...awesome! Now I have a follow-up to this whole shenanigan. Say I only have 50k continental miles; would you say it's worth ti to use those then open a new account OnePass and try to keep the silver status now that I have it already?

Just called United, and told them I'm silver on BMI, and they said that they don't offer free bags checked (she said they only offer priority check in, and stand-by)...flying out of bwi to oak today on united, so hopefully at the airport ill be able to get a different answer...anybody have any suggestions?

If i use areoplan miles to fly from Canada to US on Continental, how would I go about getting a second bag for free? (I am already entitled to one bag for free).
