you are right, except, we don't come back, but make it 2 one ways.

the problem is that YSK has no real connection to another airline, and azdding a syd-mel to it is called a double open jaw, which isnt allowed.

no, for two reasons:

1. first legs would be skipped, so the rest I presume is lost (or maybe not), but AA wouldnt mind booking from this point of view.

2. dme appears twice on the list, which is not ok

however, if there would be dme-ysk-svo that would be okay, as they look at the real airport vs city, and from there maybe an ay to hel or malev to bud.

1. You're assuming that LAN and S7's computer systems are integrated that closely.  I would guess that they are not.

2. A city is allowed to appear twice, you just can't connect through the origin city.

Again, my OW itin was CLE-DFW-LHR-AMS-HKG-BKK-HKG-MEL-DPO/HBA-SYD-HTI-MEL-HKG-YYZ-LGA-CLE

I did write: "(or maybe not)"

you are probably right, i guess this ow tix, is just a way of setting up a ticket, patented by the ow guys, however, as itinerary wise there is not a connection between missing a flight in south america, and being on time for a dme flight from a different  continent.

actually, its probably safer to try to have a very short stop over so in case they do synchronise the chance is smaller on a short notice.

i realized that there are different levels of synchronisations, and the superficial ones happen often (say every 2 mins), and the throurough  ones less (say every 24 hours).

you might need a little calculations to figure out between the different timezones to make sure they are very close in time.

they will ask you how you would get so fast from eg latino country to moscow.

they might not like the answer, but I'd say that i have an cousin that has the exact same name as me. (if needed we are born on the same date)
