Great TR!

Would bother me more to be charged $10 for a Life Jacket than to heat up KSML's
+1, the charge to heat up KSML makes sense. Charging for a live w jacket is nickeling and diming
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

Thanks! I'm not gonna pasken for you so ask your LOR, but when I asked my Rav, he told me that if you're at a 5 star hotel, you can rely on the fact that they have a high standard of cleanliness etc. and that they have separate stations for different foods (i.e. they're not cutting the fruit up in the same area that they're cutting up meat etc.). Same reason why many people hold that you can buy cut up fruit in a supermarket. As for the dishes, he told me it's fine if I'm just eating fruit because it's cold.

Again, only saying what the psak I got was because you asked, but not suggesting what anyone else should or shouldn't do. I'm sure there are many different opinions on the matter.

I didn't mind that I had to pay for a life jacket because I was just happy that the snorkeling gear was free. Many people think that charging to store and heat up KSML is nickel and diming too. Doesn't really cost them anything to throw the meals in the freezer and then in the oven for an hour. It is what it is.

The reason for charging for heating up food is because resorts rely on F&B as a large percentage of their REV and having guests that spend nothing on their meals (especially in a place like the Maldives) is basically unheard of

Charging $ for using a lifejacket is plain thievery. I've been to quite a few 5* resorts and have never seen that before

I'm not saying I disagree with your reasoning. Just that there's merits to both sides.

We have Iphones on data and voice plans that are technically unlimited (though they ask us to take it easy on personal use, particularly when traveling abroad). I just let them know which countries I'm visiting before departure and they set up international roaming.
same here. Partners love watching movies on their phones, esp on vacations, so no more blackberries...

loving this TR! Thank you for being so detailed, very helpful for those trying to plan a trip there. Did you end up buying a GoPro or borrowing one? I'm going to Scuba Diving in Costa Rica and want to know how you used yours

You're welcome! I borrowed one. Wanted to see how I liked it before buying one for myself (which I probably will do at some point in the near future).

The issues with allergies generally assure that they don't mix utensils.

Great TR. Do those sharks that you mentioned, ever attack humans? (I know they usually don't, but can they, potentially?)

A person can die in an earthquake... potentially. Or be stuck on MH370... potentially.

General rule is they don't bother you if you don't bother them. Kind of like pitbulls.

+1. They have teeth, so technically, sure they can. I was talking to another guest at the hotel and he told me that he read somewhere that the last documented shark attack in the Maldives was in 1986.

Over the past two years I’ve managed to rack up over 2 million miles and I started off verryyyyy slow.

Which cards did you open to get that many miles ?
