Hi everyone, got the idea from another forum where proactive home buyers and sellers post requests for discounted realty services or commission rebates. If there is interest, would happy to provide more info as many leave thousands of dollars in savings on the table.

*I've sent a message to mods for topic approval. Happy to edit/change/remove accordingly*

Be careful. I'm pretty sure it's unethical and against their regulations in many areas to share commission with a non-agent.

I can help out people in Baltimore.

Thanks for the reply Aaaron and yes, it depends on your state. Here is some helpful info, but for those selling, remember that everything in Real Estate is negotiable.

States where rebates are legal: http://www.justice.gov/atr/public/real_estate/rebates-details.html

Currently illegal in: OR, AK, KS, OK, IA (only if more than 1 broker in transaction), MO, LA, MS, TN, AL

I'm not just referring to the legality, I believe a lot of local real estate commissions forbid it.

Noted, but many metros and their respective RE commissions do allow them as it's not a novel concept/practice. Either way it empowers potential buyers or sellers to inquire and learn more.

Nobody likes leaving money on the table, especially here in DansDeals.

I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Typically, sellers pay ~6% of the purchase price in commissions to the buyer's agent and to their own (typically a 3%/3% split).

This thread is to find agents/RE professionals who are willing to either charge less than that, or potentially share some of the commission with the buyer.

Wanted to revive this thread as prospective home buyers and sellers prepare for the spring and summer months. Hopefully this thread can help minimize transaction costs or inform people about the potential for Realtor commission rebates.

A few friends who used redfin to search homes had no idea what a rebate was.
