Trip Planning: EU
« on: March 16, 2016, 08:57:38 AM »
I've posted a couple of random questions in various forums but thought since this forum is for "Trip Planning Advice" I would start another topic.

Background: This will be a 25th wedding anniversary trip and we'll be gone about a month. Husband is 65, marginal health. No plans for future trips. This will be our first "alone" trip and our first ever aspirational trip. While I'm paying with points and miles, I really want the trip to be special and the points are allowing us to travel without guilt. I'm also willing to spend cash although it's my nature to try to get that paid via CB cards.

We have business/first class flights booked with points. Western Mediterranean cruise was booked with points. Hotels are booked with points.

Brief Itinerary.

Fly into Rome, Rome Hilton Airport hotel
7 day Western Mediterranean Cruise
5  days Rome at Waldorf Astoria
3 days Berlin at Molina Stucky
9 days small town in Germany (where hubs still has family)
3 days Berlin, Hiilton Berlin
1 day Frankfurt, Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel
Fly home

I don't want this first post to be too long and boring, so I'll just ask one question. In a previous post, I was given a link for booking a train going from Rome to Venice that was significantly cheaper than the ones I had been looking at. Is there a similar train/site to travel from Berlin to the FRA airport?

I've started working on some sightseeing places and tours but I'm also trying to get transportation nailed down.

There's enough to do in Berlin for 6 days? Seems a lot of time...

There is but it isn't 6 days in this case.

Oops, typo error with initial post. It's suppose to be 3 days Venice, as Emkay pointed out based on hotel. Doesn't look like I can edit the post, although edit shows up on other posts.

I did look glance at seat61 but will check again.

Sounds awesome. Enjoy your trip! Post in the different Italy threads when you get up to planning activities, and I'll be glad to help.

Thanks, Yehuda. We're really excited about it. It will be our first trip ever that isn't low end budget.  I actually came across one of the Italy threads and saw the Wiki. I never know where to post with all the forums. :)
