Which card can you downgrade to from the spg which will have no annual fee? I tried in December and they told me that there was no such thing.

Are you sure they weren't going to close the SPG, and open the everyday?

Weird, I would have had them click on it and see what the process actually was.

Anyone want to test it? See if Amex started allowing such PCs.

Maybe someday. I have heard of them doing PCs between cobrands before, like from a Delta to a Hilton.

Does anyone know if they will have to sell these (personal - consumer) cards to Chase sometime in 2019? That may cause them to break the normal PC policies.

To which card can I transfer my spg credit line (personal and business), so my credit score wouldn’t decrease?

My bro has the SPG for 10 years. It's his only Amex. Now that it's an almost useless card, I want him to cancel and get a new better card.
Does Amex still look at your original card date for age of account even if that account is closed so long as you have another card with them?
Will it hurt if average age of accounts?

No, Amex won't consider the new account open from the time of the original.
In 10 years you will see the closing of this card effect your AAOA.

Tip: Getting a free night along with the card renewal is worth the AF+

thanks.
Too bad about length of accounts.
You're rights about the free night - if he'll actually use it..

I'll probably tell him to keep it open and just guide him to apply for a new card or 2 for his regular spend

He can easily sell it for more than the price of the AF.
