Upgrade BB Bold to OS 6.0.0.415 ?
« on: May 15, 2011, 01:34:17 PM »
I have the BB Bold with Sprint and currently I believe I have v5.0.0.983
When I connect to BB desktop it is asking me if I want to update my OS to 6.0.0.415.

I have heard some positive and some negative experiences with the new OS. Can anyone with experience please chime on with some advise for me if I should upgrade or not?

It depends on what is important to you. the upgrade will give you a faster reboot time so if you battery comes out it will take about 5 minutes as opposed to closer to ten-fifteen.
The OS is without a doubt slower to response when your searching form something. There are less bugs overall but a new setup takes time getting used to and of course like i said the slower response.
I dont see any huge upside for you if you havent changed it until now.

I think the OS is only slower on the old phones (with slower processors and less RAM), it's designed for the newer phones. This is why RIM isn't releasing it for older phones like my 9630/Tour.

Don't touch it:

Heavier (=slower)

Additional steps are needed to get to the same places maneuvering through your bb...

One important factor which I am not sure why no one mentioned abt os 6, and I also am not 100% at what os this actually begins- but u can have as many tabs open as you want on the web browser- which to me is amazing.

You can have that with the opera browser.

I only use it when the native browser doesn't work, as ashero will lay it out.

Opera browser is annoying as h3ll on 5.0, especially on older phones.
