Blackberry Protect is a free utility app from RIM, it's been in the making for quite some time now.

Some of the features are:

Remote backup (contacts, tasks, etc.)
Locate a lost phone (I think it even turns the ringer on)
Wipe a lost phone
Display a notice for the finder to see

It barely uses any resources (besides for the initial backup, the subsequent ones are differential) and it very easy to set up.

Check it out and share your thoughts.

Just downloaded this and so far it looks very good. I tried out the "locate my phone" option, it got pretty close since I am in a building I assume the GPS locater is not perfect.

Same for me.

I did have an issue with restoring backed data OTA, I'm glad I had a BB Desktop Manager backup as well. I was expecting the restore as I ungraded the software on my phone.

To download in Israel you need to have the old version of BBApp world, then you need to disable the radio, and run BBApp world using wifi. That's how I do it.

i downloaded it and got a mess that bb protect doesnt work with bb enterprise server!! wht does that mean? (i have cellcom)

Guys I just spent the last hour dealing with this. I hope the app is worth it. Downloaded BB Protect using old BBApp World. BB Protect thought I had BES because at one point in the past I had BES. I'm on Cellcom now with BIS. I used JL Cmndr to Reset to Factory which wiped my device and reset the IT policy to nothing. I then restored everything and oh my god it is so not worth it...not the program...I didn't try that yet. It's just a pain to backup and restore.

I need to train myself that sometimes it's not worth all the effort. I can't tell you how many times I've spent hours doing something that saved me 10 minutes
