It's true. Back in the day I never saw anything frum at GHK.
Now it's a given that there will be others there.

Of course not, but it's more than feasible to bump into other frum people at the PH.

On this topic last week in Iguazu park, I bumped in to a group of 10 couples from Willi/Monroe, woman in spitzlach and turbans men in woolen tzitzit above shirt, heading towards the boat ride, where most ppl dress in bathing where, for a min I thought I was in bronx zoo on Chol HaMoed.

i cant believe im getting validation for this here!  was sure noone within the Hobby would agree, except of course when traveling with a group when its a no-brainer

It just depends on the scenario and locale.

I used a few thousand starpoints in HKT for a villa with a truly private walled in pool just a minute from the ocean.

Always worth exploring all options though.

yup. there was one recent TR, i forget which, that mentioned meeting you there. as much as id love a chat, my vaca is sacrosanct and i dont relish meeting another kindred soul. off the bucket list it went.
i might be taking things too far, but in a GHK where the outdoor hotel amenities are such a huge component of the trip, why should i be uncomfortable even for the slight possibility?
which is why i usually book through vrbo and have been to some amazing properties. but now that im in the game...

+1. I also generally don't want to see frum people on vacation but in the Maldives just not staying at the PH will greatly reduce any possibility. If you're in general willing to pay VRBO then also why not go the W or Conrad and splash out for bigger upgrade that's totally secluded or pay for tours that literally drop you at private island with a cooler and a Sat phone. You're gonna pay, but the points enable you to have experiences at a fraction of the cost.  Maybe because I'm older and traveled a ton as a child but I'd also rather takes less trips and have them be nicer.
