If one buys the points at .0082, and gets one of marriott's travel rewards deals, whether it be UA miles, or SW which would get you a companion pass as well, that is better than what you're offering.
I have to disagree with your assessment. The cheapest Tier 5 option with Marriott's Hotel + Air Package is 470,000 points, which would be $3,854.00 at .0082 per point. Therefore, for someone not interested in airline points, my offer saves them $854. Even for someone who is interested in airline points, 55,000 points for $854 is 0.0155 a point, which is not necessarily a great price, especially if they do not have an immediate redemption for them. The rates do get better as the size of the package increases, but again, not everyone is looking to buy 100,000 points on a whim.
The bottom line is that, for the average person looking to stay seven nights at a tier 5 RC, this is a great value.
