Curious how you came to that conclusion (and welcome back!)
Taking a guess from the pictures.

The more I look at the connector there could be circuitry on the back of the board. The item right below the display (I can't make it out) might be the IR for the remote. If that is the case, then there is circuitry on the back of the board.

Depending how handy the OP is you can make a small cut in track for the power button. One of the jumpers might also do the trick. Either way will require a soldering iron.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

It seems pretty clear that disconnecting it will disconnect the screen, buttons and IR. I would assume the OP would want to remove access to power, mode and temperature control, but buying a 2nd board (if available) isn't a bad idea.

The IR receiver would be the telling sign. I guess it is right below the display?

Lol, +1000.

Although you can probably turn your smartphone ל'ע into a backup remote.
You wish. No one makes them with IR Blasters anymore. Was a great idea with a lot of potential back in the HTC One (M7) days. Someone at XDA made a crowd sourced universal remote app that was immensely useful for all the split until A/Cs etc, but alas, the smartphone manufacturers got rid of it along with the headphone jack, removable battery, and SD card slot.

It's really annoying to see the whole PC ecosystem mentality die.

Applicable to US only. Outside of US it's fairly common.

Speaking of remotes, a cool way to smartify ACs is using an IR universal remote, some are even flashable like this one.

Anyone have experience with ice makers in freezers?

I hooked up the water, but no water goes through. When I kickstart the gear, I'm able to get it to pour the water but I need to kick start it again to get the ice to get pushed off and the again to fill it up again...
Any ideas?

1. There is typically a safety lever that gets pushed up if you are not using the ice maker. You need to pull it down.
2. It win't eject ice when the door is open

Lever is down, I've left it for a very long time and no eject.
It seems to be that the automated system isn't working aka it doesn't know when to fill and when to eject just unsure what to do to fix that...

Is the lever hooked in on both sides? I once had in mine that it wasn't all the way in on one side so it wasn't turning the little plastic piece.

Front loader or top loader?
What type of stain?
(Power off/on check:) Check the place where you add the soap/softener/bleach. Run the washer on empty a few times.

The first thing is make sure the door seal is clean. Mold will build up there really quick.

Framed. But see how the hinge is posted to the cabinet.
