That's possible. You should be able to see where the water is leaking from.

Something like this should do just fine
You want him to replace all that?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

I duly apologize for not taking the time to find the absolute best / easiest product on Amazon.

If that was bad, water would be leaking on the outside of the toilet on to the floor.

thanks will get it for my deck it has some knot holes

May not work as well for larger holes. My experience is it did not dry properly in a larger cavity/hole in deck wood (perhaps the product I used was on the shelf too long). Perhaps adding that in thinner layers works better. Good luck

Darn...I don't think that's what I was aiming for, either...I'll try to take a closer look and post a picture once I get home.

I'm thinking the issue is the flapper at the bottom of the tank. If I push that down harder, it seems the water stops trickling out. That's what I was trying to get a replacement for...maybe I should save myself some time and just start off posting this in the "DIY blunders" thread?

Flapper is most likely the problem. Very cheap and easy to change on most tanks.

Ah - missed that one when I re-joined the conversation this morning. Is that usually universal? I have an American Standard Champion 4 toilet.

Best to post a picture, it may just need a new ring like the first link I sent.

I can try to take a picture, but visually, there's nothing obviously wrong. It's just that I can hear the water trickling out, and I know when I push down the flapper, the sound stops.

I thought the valve seal I posted originally was part of the flapper  :-\

Then it's a really super easy fix. You should not be worried about messing up at all. Your 8 year old can do it.

Is the chain twisted and holding it open a little?

It is, but it's hard to tell if that's going to be enough.
