Anyone here familiar with the genetic makeup of these hamantashen? I would very much like to know whther they are related to black licorice...

That is a disgusting insult.

While we're at it, I actually dont like ANY hamantashin aside from my Moms poppy. All others (poppy and otherwise) arent even in the same stratosphere. They just taste like bad cookies.

Poppy hamantashin are definitely alot worse than black jelly beans and licorice

The original Hamatachen. That's how the minhag started; to eat something with seeds  in commemoration of Esther, who, while in the place, only are nuts and seeds.

ETA: Also, poppy seed are my favorite filling :)

We should just make this a general hamantashen thread. My personal favorite is my mother's apricot flavored, through cherry will do in a pinch. I did just recently have a really good chocolate one from Seasons that was more like a chocolate cream.

Definitely agree on prune and poppy seed being at the bottom of the list.
