« on: March 15, 2011, 05:38:18 PM »
I am trying to book a ticket from LAX-SYD in Business on AA miles When I search Qantas site and put in lax-syd it only shows avail thru MEL but when I put in LAX-MEL it shows the flights I want avail thru LAX-SYD. AA says its not available at all. I am looking at Aug 10.

Unfortunately, it's not available. For some reason when the domestic segment (SYD-MEL/MEL-SYD) is available in business it shows the entire trip under business.

Usually if you do a flexible search, then click business class on the top of the page, it'll bring up a calendar of business seats which should be more accurate.

FYI, if a flight is available using Qantas miles (on QF) it WILL be available for booking with AA miles. Problem is that most AA agents do not know how to search Qantas properly (especially F) as it is a different booking class than CX etc. If they say its not available, call back again and again and eventually you will find someone who does know how to search properly
