So your saying their readership abroad is so large and much larger than dd that it pushes them from less in the US to higher overall doesn't sound right to me

It's quite simple.
DD can have 1m US visitors and 100k abroad, totaling 1.1m.
YWN can have 950k US visitors and 200k abroad, totaling 1.15m

And it makes sense because DD is deals mainly for Americans while YWN has an Israeli and international appeal.

- There's a reason websites have pictures. There's a reason people spend money to get pro photos of a product they're trying to sell. Visuals are powerful. And most people have fast enough internet speeds today.

I'm not seeing a wiki so if I may suggest, just like in the newer versions of WhatsApp those really long messages have been shortened with a "read more" button, perhaps you can do the same here so that those who wish can have all articles in their entirety on one page yet at the same time, those who already read the TR but want to check something on the previous deal won't have to scroll half way through the page.

Call me crazy but I like the site the way it is. Mainly the "old fashioned" "paper" theme, as this way it feels personal like Dan is writing this. If it changed to a theme with a lot more graphics it quickly would feel very commercialized and right away my eyes kinda glaze over and I go from "reading mode" to "skimming mode" and I distrust the content a lot more.

One downside for this, it will hurt mobile readers and since there's no official mobile version a lot of readers will not be happy that way

We discussed that the current site is good for mobile (including myself) but if the ideas here are to improve reg and mobile then if this benefits desktop readers then he should widen it

I find that due to the fact that the site only takes up half the page, it works perfectly on mobile zoomed in. Being as a large chunk of your deal followers are alerted by SMS and twitter notifications, I think effectively being left without a mobile site wouldn't be a good move.

Well with most new themes, comes a responsive site that is mobile friendly and mobile optimized.
