spirit identity offer
« on: March 16, 2011, 01:55:58 PM »
O got a offer from spirit that if you sign up for a identity theft program they give 6k points. There is a plan for 18$ a month I was thinking 18$ for 6k points is ok.

Anyone else get this offer?

Got it as well. For $18 it's worth it, if you have other points.
The question is, does one month of $18 get you the points? What are the t&c?

Look at the award chart on spirit's site and you will see that even though it sounds cheap ($18 for 6000) spirit points are almost worthless. They have super limited availability and on top of that their award structure varies by season (spring summer fall winter) and mileage. So for example while they say awards start at 5,000 miles, you will see that to go from nyc to fll (1200 fly miles, a relatively short trip) that one leg would be 15k in spirit miles for 8 months out of the year. It depends where and when you are flying, but spirit (like jblue) has their own system which is completely different in terms of value then the typical airline. Spirit is much worse than jblue though bc at least jblue miles are transferable. Spirit will only let you book a ticket in the name of the person with mileage account no ifs ands or buts. Look at the terms of spirits points program to decide if its worth it for you
