Does the corded handset do you any good? IOW, is there a similar, cheaper version without the corded handset on the main base?
It works in a power outage. Not sure about the other versions w/o it.

I ended up buying this one after good experience with Panasonic and I like it so far. Has Bluetooth so you can pair it with your cellphone (it's very useful for me because Verizon doesn't have good reception in my house so I leave my cellphone at the window and use my cordless to receive calls). No brand will last forever...
