It seems to be the minhag  of ddf to take F on the outbound and J on the inbound

Thanks. I guess worse case scenario i buy an upgradeable and buy Asia miles for the upgrade for 1 ticket.

I agree with Marco Polo, being that it's far out in December.
But don't freak out if you still don't see 48 hours before travel - it's when you have the best chance of grabbing it.

If have 2 seats on hold to JFK and need 4...see 4 to BOS should i jump on it? the problem is that BOS doesn't get in early enough to catch any connection so need to stay the night

Is staying overnight a big deal to you? If not, for the peace of mind, book to BOS.
