IIANM my first one was this one
you remember that helicopter shooting game?
I'm not sure what method other people were referring to above regarding free calls on a payphone but our method was to place a collect call. You had about 2 seconds to record your name and in that two seconds you would say a la aseres bnei haman "pick-me-up-in-ten-minutes-in-front-of-the-library-please!"
...when there was no need to carry quarters for payphones. Tell Me did the call for free...
If my father were on these forums, he'd tell you about another method of placing calls for free, one that's before just about anyone here's time: phreaking. GIYF.
There was a method by drilling a hole in a quarter and letting it down with a string. It was able to be pulled back up if you knew exactly at which moment you had to give the tug.
Didn't work on those occasions when you bumped into a live operator.
We should take a poll how many of the people reminiscing here about the olden days are over 30. 🙈
Anyone else here used to take their Tzedakah pennies to school in old film canisters?
Looking for a gas station where you could ask directions.
So can you still write like this without referring back to the card?
How about SF Cave?
Oh the hours wasted on Tetris and SF Cave...
