When we used maps on road trips, and no that's not Google maps...

Something people born after 2000 have never and will never experience.
Oh, how I miss that. We used to go on long distance trips with my father, and he used to show me beforehand on the map the route we'll be traveling, and I had to be ready to guide him at a moments notice. Nostalgia.

When soda machines had a bottle opener next to the coin slot.
When cigarette vending machines existed. Pull the handle, get a pack, no questiins asked.
I'm an optimist; but only because life isn't going to give me any other good choices.

  • Location: The value of a forum such as this one is not in that one can post a question and receive an answer, but in that the question has most likely been asked before, and the answer is available to him that will but only use the search function.
  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

Cigarette vending machines are still in many bars and countries outside the US.

When we thought a 20MB hard disk was sufficient, and when a 40MB hard drive had to be partitioned into two partitions, the largest one being 30MB.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

When this game http://www.futrega.org/digger/ was played on a 12MHz XT, then on a 286 it would just speed up everything (including the music) and on a 20MHz 386 from PC Complete (the original brand name of......Dell) it was just too fast to play.

me too. Spent countless hours on those. Used to cheat on the long hurdles by jumping off then back onto the mat.

My husband's beeper went off at a restaurant and he stood at the payphone feeding it quarters (or was it still dimes?) to make a series of calls to take care of the emergency.

When someone sent a wedding gift with me from YYZ to NYC and I then chose to take everything carryon. At security they asked me to see something but let me by when they saw the gift wrapped box. Later I realized it was a silver challah knife. Well those don't cut anything anyhow.
