Thanx. How often does that BBQ brisket come around ?
Does it include international calls ?as of now no international calling with mad plans. It's unpredictable the only way to be sure is to keep on checking social.ringplus.net to see what the latest promo is so far they offered it 3 times

what's the exact model number of your phone and at what point does it not work? I.e. activation, provisioning..
it is the HTC One M8. Locked to Sprint. When I ran the ESN in the BYOD Checker, it worked. When I actually tried swapping it for my old phone on my account, the message I got was if your phone is activated with another carrier it must be deactivated before activating it to ring Plus. I chatted with Sprint last night and they told me that the phone is still associated with a Sprint account so I guess that's why it was not "released".

eBay, reputable seller. Pretty sure it was Sprint.

with eBay if it claims to have a clean ESN and will not activate you have 180 days guarantee. There is however one other possibility. If a seller puts the esn in the listing , unscrupulous people may use it to flash onto a stolen phone, rendering your phone useless. Was the esn advertised in the listing? Can you PM me a link to the listing and I can try to see what the issue may be. If it was used previously with freedompop you must ask them to release the line and it will also give you that error even though it's not being used by anyone any more.

It was not in the listing, I messaged the seller after I bought it.

at this point you have 2 options 1. Open a thread on social.ringplus.net and ask a moderator to ping support after you open a support ticket .2. ask the seller for a refund as it should be usable, if seller refuses eBay will refund it usually

I messaged the seller, who offered to exchange it - just didn't want the headache. Can support help in this case if Sprint is the one who needs to release it?

I don't recommend sending it back, since both sprint and ringplus say it is a clean esn and not active on another account. Maybe try to activate it again on ringplus?

I have a freedom pop sim with service on it. If I cancel the service, can I use the sim for ringplus?

which freedompop sim do you have . if you have a sprint lte sim and a sprint phone it should work after the account is deactivated properly. However if it's a GSM sim it will not work (freedompop.foggmobile.com APN)

I'll have to check. Thanks. What do you mean deactivated properly?

besides for closing the account , freedompop holds onto the phone and you will not be able to activate it on other Sprint mvno because it will say it's still active . you need to request from support to take off their network
