Just like any career it has it pluses and minuses. You have to love flying to a degree that you are willing to sacrifice , for many years, low pay after spending big money to earn all the ratings, must have a college degree too, then when and if you make it to a major airline, European airlines pay better by the way, and most of them pay for the whole training, then pay starts being good, senior captains on the larger aircraft earn serious money. Negatives, high divorce rates for married pilots, away from family , any medical issues and you lose your medical and can no longer fly. Also it used to be more prestigious and pilots were treated much better years ago.
