Frying, cooking, facial massage etc etc. It is supposed to be one of the healthiest oils available. I have noticed in our deep fryer (only do potatoes in it) that the food does not absorb the oil. Same with eggs in the frypan. I rarely have to top up the deep fryer. As the oil solidifies after cooling the fryer only needs to be filled every few months. It stays clean and fresh much longer that canola or liquid oils and the fries are just as tasty months later. Worth the initial extra cost for that alone in long term savings and this deal puts even the cost negative to bed.

I asked a Shailah about it. Technically maybe not needed, but the issue is what else is made on the machinery in the Philippines or wherever. You can possibly just put it away with other stuff you can't use.

Specifically from my viewpoint, there is only one OU-P brand of coconut oil that I know of (which I have not been able to find anywhere - 14 oz SpectrumŽ Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil) which implies something is not quite right Chometz wise when OU and other certifications say ONLY with OU-P, so I am including mine with the Chometz sale to be safe.

There's my story - ask your own Rav.

There are no real viable chometz oils. Most likely the equipment is used for kitniyos. Even if the equipment is used for chometz there is no reason to sell it, just don't eat it.

It is not the oil that is the problem. The issue is the "Most likely the equipment is used for kitniyos." Kitniyos does not have to be sold. It is the unknown part of most likely that concerns me. Who knows what is processed in the machines? If we don't know, and clearly OU knows something they are not saying, then I'd simply rather err on the side of caution.

Like I said, ask your Rav. But don't wait too long in case BJ's bungs the price up. At the end of the day, keeping it appropriately over Pesach is not a big issue, one way or the other.

Have a Kosher Pesach all!

Even the chometz equipment itself you are allowed to own. (has to be covered)

The aroma taste free refined oil adds no flavor to the food. The unrefined oil makes everything taste like coconut, which was a novelty for the first five minutes and the I went hunting for the taste free variety with a good Hechsher, about two years ago.

There are two types. The Organic Non Refined one is at $12.99. The refined one is at $6.49 in Baltimore. See the photos I posted.

Please note that my BJs had a heap of the smelly $12.99 oil on an aisle end cap. The refined $6.99 oil was down the oil row. Both types were there. I only knew about it from a previous purchase. I had bought the Sams club oil at $13.99 then I saw BJs a couple of days later at $8.49, so I took Sams back. Sams said that was the correct price, which triggered another trip to BJs to stock up at $8.49.
Hashem works in wonderful ways and rewarded me with an even better price of $6.49, so who am I to argue with HKBH, and I bought 12 instead of 8.
Moral of the story. Walk an extra few steps... good Shabbos
