This actually makes sense. The code is limited to 1 per account, so if you're trying to get the gold, just skip the free shipping and get free shipping on the silver as soon as the gold is sold out.

Best practices for snagging a coin?

Have a USMint.gov account ready and logged in. Make sure billing/shipping address is correct (matches CC-issuer data) and CC is saved.

Have CC ready with CVV handy and confirmed to work.

Use a card you use frequently that has more than sufficient available credit.

Use the most stable and fastest internet connection and computer you have. If you have 1000 browser tabs open, and other heavy programs running in the background, close all those.

Which internet browser is recommended?

(Haven’t done this in a while so feel free to CMIIW/add.

Clear the transaction with your CC beforehand if you don't use it often.
Would be very unfortunate if your bank refused transaction due to fraud alert.

I once sold a coin to JM Bullion - one of the bigger online coin dealers. They just sent a promo email offering the same deal as others. This is going to be one mad scramble, odds seem to be approaching those of a lottery.

It won't sell out as quickly. You'll be able to buy it after the gold one sells out. If you try only for the silver one you're likely to get it.
