The mint has a dollar cutoff IIRC. I think it's $500. Meaning, anything over $500 ships UPS.

You can request for the package to be held at UPS, but generally they won't hold for more than 5 days.

Having a good relationship with your local UPS driver (including his personal cell phone number) is a good thing. Those Amazon GC a couple of times a year along with a friendly smile and greeting are a worthwhile investment.

Yup. I know a story of a chossons suit that was supposed to be delivered with UPS before his wedding but was still lost in transit the day of his wedding. A friend reached out to his UPS driver who he had a good relationship with, and the suit was found and delivered 2 hours before the wedding.

I had a shifty experience with PH last gold sets..  They never sent me a PO for all of my coins including a set and some 1oz coins.  Then they got very aggressive trying to tell me I was obligated to sell them the set (but would not buy the others).  I'm sure they're fine from a financial credit standpoint but no thanks on dealing with someone trying to get one by others or intimidate.

FWIW - via chat an Amex rep told me buying coins from mint do not count as cash advance and have no fees attached to transaction.

True it may not be accurate, but at least this way Amex will likely reverse any decision not in your favor when presented with their own cs statements to the contrary.
