Fidelity Cashback (2%)

Amex: Effective January 15, 2021, the definition of a cash advance will now include “precious metal coins or bullion.” However, as of July 2021, this does not seem to be enforced.

12:40 and still available. Does that mean that demand for the coin is scarce? What was the mintage limit for previous coins?

The 2018 palladium had a mintage of 15,000

Selling well on eBay https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=pride+of+two+nations&_sacat=0&rt=nc&LH_Complete=1

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2019-Pride-of-Two-Nations-2pc-Set-U-S-Set-PCGS-PR70-FS-Flag-Label/173952226308?hash=item28805c5404:g:p1wAAOSwmRBdG9kI

Why in the world would somebody buy one set for $495 if it's available at the mint for 1/3 the price?  Feeling so confused... or are there just a lot of naive people out there?

Because those sellers are offering to get those coins certified by PCGS. Certified coins are worth more. It also costs money to get them certified.

So if that sold out with 10 minutes or so, it makes sense for this to take an hour - hour and a half to sell out.

So that seller had to have bought a lot of coins in order to be assured some of them will be graded PR70?

Not necessarily. Palladium was one per customer, these are five per customer.

That's right. If it doesn't come back with that rating, you not only lose money, but the coin also may have technically lost value because the box is opened.

It cost like $25 or so to get a grading certificate, doesn't it?

So do you consider the demand to be lower than initially expected?

Did you see who the seller is?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Considering that it's 1:20 now and I can still add five to my cart without a hitch, I would say yes, demand is lower than expected.

This seems to be a huge bust as it's still available almost 4 hours later.

This is why taking the guaranteed path is best sometimes. It's also why PFS requires firm commitments on both sides of any deal we run.

So where is the big payoff for those taking the risk? The price going up or finding the gems?
