Fidelity Cashback (2%)

Amex: Effective January 15, 2021, the definition of a cash advance will now include “precious metal coins or bullion.” However, as of July 2021, this does not seem to be enforced.

This thing has lower mintage than the West Point 95 proof.  Think it's a (try to) buy and hold for me.

That’s not a very good comparison at all.

Why not a good comparison?

Many numismatists seeking to acquire the coin are openly comparing it - i've seen that comment on numerous collecting forums.  Perhaps even if the comparison is an objectively poor one (mint location, issue, composition, etc) if the collecting community perceives it to be than it is.

Tim I'd probably hold for 10-15 years.  Assuming that the comparison is a good one, I see many 95-Ws selling upwards of $1,500 today (24 years).  Certainly beats the market in that time AND for $68 I'm willing to take the risk that it doesn't for whatever reason (poor analog, crazy bull market, etc).

your investment (in opportunity cost) is not $68, it's $250

Because that was the first time the mint made a special kind of silver eagle. This is the 100th. Also you can get exactly the same coin in the pride of nations set, the only difference is the mintmark. I’d bet any money that this coin isn’t worth near what the 95w is worth in a year. Not to mention that the only way to get the 95w was to buy a $1,000 set.

So what's PFS strategy here? Are they going through all this trouble to make $50 per coin?

There are less of these than the 95W's tho right?  It will be by definition, rarer.  For a very collectible (the most?) coin type?  I'm not saying comparison is spot on.  Just think it's closer to compare it to that than it is to compare it to a 100,000 minted special issue...  Plus if we hold and get anywhere close to the 2200% rise (conservative) the 95W saw we'll be beating the market.

in case they accidentally fulfill too many orders... and the overnight orders will go out first??
Maybe they want them overnighted so that they get them from you ASAP before you have the chance of shopping around and entertaining better offers.

That's what I was thinking also, so they can get them on ebay before others?
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

Overnight is needed to meet PCGS/NGC Grading Submission cutoffs for FS Designation, the end game for most dealers

The grade can suffer based on delivery type?

PSA , you can run into ribbis issues if you use a friends card and pay him commission. You doing it for a buying group is different. Speak you your LOR
