Fidelity Cashback (2%)

Amex: Effective January 15, 2021, the definition of a cash advance will now include “precious metal coins or bullion.” However, as of July 2021, this does not seem to be enforced.

The grading company is afraid of that?
The purchaser.
I'm not who you think I am.

It doesn't make sense. All the ones being sold on Ebay have been opened already
I don't think so.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

The purchaser.

My question is whether I can open the box if I am sending it to one of the two grading companies anyway.

Yes and make sure it is within 30 days from release date if you want FS designation.

Does PCGS grade increase or even retain value even if not the best grade? I'm deciding between sending it in to grade vs. selling now at 1K

I think it's more exciting to open the package. I want to atleast see the coin and see if I'm one of the lucky 100 to have the original signature.

I got 3 coins and 2 of the boxes one a small thin rectangle box type and one a square box that had lots of room in it for the coin. Could that be one of the original 100? What does that mean if it is? Should I open it?

Also the 1st 2 I sold on ebay were auctions and closed at 636(offer) and a bid of $709. Now they're going for over $1000. What are the risks of cancelling the purchase even if the buyer already paid?

Guilty feelings, and buyer can (and should >:() leave negative reviews. Also can potentially lead to eBay account shutdown.

So are people that committed to PFS and then backed out and presold on eBay for $500 now going to back out on that and sell for $1,000?
Bump :)

The square box does not mean it is from the first 100 COAs. My BIL got No. 26k+ in a square box.

Bump :)

A well known posek in Lakewood gave a shiur on the coin situation. He differentiated between a typical anticipated price fluctuation, for example had the price gone to $300 or dropped to $45, in which case either party would have mechusar amana for backing out, and an unanticipated major price fluctuation as in this situation. The latter would qualify as “trei tarei” and one would be permitted to back out of his commitment (according to the letter of the law) according to most poskim.

It would seem that one who proceeded to back out of the PFS deal and list the coin on eBay was already aware of the wild price fluctuation and could have anticipated the coin hitting $1000. If so there would be mechusar amana for backing out. This would apply to two Jewish parties. In a transaction with a non Jewish party there is generally no mechsar amana; since it is not anticipated that the non Jew will feel bound by his word the Jew does not have to reciprocate.

btw, for those selling on eBay, if you subscribe to a basic store the fee for selling coins is 6.15% as opposed to 10%
