In case anyone else was wondering, the “postmark date” is inside the box with your order information.
The postmark date thy're referring to is your postmark date shipping to them

is it really worth to get coin graded +/- first strike versus keeping box "sealed"?

if so, which company/service should I use - PCGS vs NGC?

any other suggestions/advice to give?

This whole PCGS vs NGC thing is pretty controversial once you get into it but from my understanding PCGS seems to be the preferred choice for buyers/collectors so i went with them.

I had the same questions/thoughts and ultimately decided to send it in maybe because curiosity got the best of me and i wanted to know if i had a signed certificate but didn't want to open mint box on my own...not sure but i do think in some ways it does add value to the coin.

What about the risk involved in getting a 69?

Per NGC the cutoff date for first/early release designation for the American Eagle 2019 S Enhanced Reverse Proof S coin is today 12/16/19. That is not a ship by date, rather it the date it must be received by NGC.

However, still not sure if this designation actually means anything.

In case anyone finds this useful.

I sent 2 PCGS 69's to NGC using their crossover service.
Both converted to 70's.

That makes a total of 8 of 10 I sent to them as 70s or 80%

My PCGS ones graded 70 at around a 35% rate.

That being said the market is definitely on the decline and with all the dealers getting their graded coins back in my opinion the market will likely continue to soften with the extra inventory. If that proves to be true it may be more advisable to sell ungraded now vs seeing where the market is in 2 weeks when the grading process is done.

For those that PM'd me I am no longer buying any coins.

What's the crossover cost? Is it worthwhile?

I think it was similar to regular costs.

https://www.ngccoin.com/news/article/1335/

You cant specify to only switch if its higher grade but you can specify that you dont want lower (i.e. dont switch over my PCGS 69 if NGC thinks its a 68 is okay but you cant say only switch to an NGC slab if its a 70)

Based on the percentages of 70s between NGC vs PCGS I'd say if you dont see anything wrong with your coin it might be a good candidate for a crossover upgrade if you want to roll the dice. Particularly if you have a few of these it makes sense.

What's the valid of a PCGS 69 vs NGC 70?
Why don't they allow you to only crossover if it goes higher?

What's the value of a PCGS 69 vs NGC 70?
Why don't they allow you to only crossover if it goes higher?

PCGS 69s are going for 1250-1350 while NGC Pr70s are going for 2000-2250
I'm not sure why they have that policy in place. It may simply relate to being able to charge as the fees are otherwise refunded if it doesnt crossover successfully.

"If a PCGS-certified coin fails to meet NGC’s standards for the submitter’s requested minimum grade, it will be returned to the submitter in its original PCGS holder. In this case, the NGC grading fee will be refunded less a $10 processing charge."

Would be nice if they'd actually open the box I sent them!
How long does it typically take from delivery for them to register / begin the process of grading?

Someone just told me that PCGS is giving out only 70’s to dealers and not individual submissions..
I wonder if anyone heard anything about this rumor?

Edit
Mabey someone should create a poll to see how many actually got a 70
