Fidelity Cashback (2%)

Amex: Effective January 15, 2021, the definition of a cash advance will now include “precious metal coins or bullion.” However, as of July 2021, this does not seem to be enforced.

On Thursday, November 5th - at 12:00PM ET the US Mint will be releasing two limited edition “End of World War II 75th Anniversary” coins, an American Gold Eagle and an American Silver Eagle.

PFS will be running a deal for each of these coins.

Each has a purchase limit of one coin per household, so you’re able to buy one of each.

The cost of the V75 Silver coin will be $83.00 and the cost of the V75 Gold coin will be APPROXIMATELY $2,550.00. (The Mint will only be releasing the exact price for the Gold coin on Wednesday the 4th, and it will depend on the spot price of Gold over the next couple of days.)

Each coin would need to be purchased as a separate Mint order, as such, each purchase will also have a $4.95 shipping charge.

You will have each order shipped to your own house or office and then ship it to PFS Buyers Club with a prepaid shipping label that we will provide for you.

PFS will pay you $150.00 for each V75 Silver order - for a profit of $62.05 per order.

PFS will be offering a commission of $525.05 for each V75 Gold order.

This is also a great opportunity to earn valuable points/miles on your credit cards, as well as meet any spending thresholds.

We will once again be offering $20.00 per completed referral for this deal. Referral terms and details are posted on the "My Referrals" page which can be accessed once you're logged in.

How are people on ebay already selling them? How do they know that they will get it?

For anyone choosing to do these deals and deciding to sell them on eBay, your chances of selling the coin for a profit are going to be hit-or-miss. I’ve been selling my coins to PFS buyers club since 2018 and have never had a problem with them. But I decided to investigate how much more I could get if I sold the same coin(s) on eBay based on my past Purchase history on the US mint’s website. Like others on the forum, I don’t know anything about coin collecting. I just do this for the extra cash.

Now what I do know a lot about is selling on eBay. i’ve been an eBay seller since 2010 (at one point it was my full-time job). So I know everything there is about eBay selling including listing products for sale, your likelyhood of getting scammed, and what fees you will pay if you choose to sell these coins on eBay vs PFS. First, let’s break down eBay fees.

For eBay, you will pay a Final Value fee of 10% on all collectible coin sales. However if you purchase an eBay store for $28 a month, this will reduce your eBay fees down to 6% on Collectible coins, with a minimum subscription time of 2 months. This means after plugging in the 10% ebay fee and comparing it to a 6% fee + a minimum of 2 months of an eBay store, you will need to sell $1400 of collectible coins to “break even” on the seller fees in a two-month period.

Because of these comparisons, I will use the fee calculation where you will save money. Ex: You sell a $3000 coin on eBay, in this case it makes sense to buy an eBay store to reduce your selling fees. But if you are selling a say $500 of coins in a 2-month period, it makes sense to pay the 10% fee instead.

You will also have to pay a 2.9% + 30 cent credit card fee because I am guessing most of you don’t sell on eBay frequently enough to be eligable for eBay managed payments (credit card fee goes down to 2.5% + 25 cents). This will also be included in the calculations. Then there’s shipping, which I will make a flat $10 to simplify calculations. In other words, my calculated eBay costs will include the ebay seller fees, the credit card fees, and the shipping fees for the following coins.

Prices here are 2020 prices with respect to what I paid for the coin when I bought it (non-inflation adjusted), so they are after the “Hype” for a coin has settled down towards it’s actual asking price, more on this later.

Most recent order from the US mint on 9/24/2020:

American Eagle 2020 One Ounce Palladium Uncirculated Coin. –

Purchased for: $3005

PFS paid me: $3055

eBay price as of November 2020: ~$3010

Total eBay costs: $328.89

If I sold this coin today on eBay after fees: $2681.11

I would lose $328.89

Going with PFS was a good choice here. I would’ve lost money selling it on eBay.

order from the US mint on 1/24/2019:

Apollo 11 50th Anniversary 2019 Proof $5 Gold Coin –

and

Apollo 11 50th Anniversary 2019 Uncirculated $5 Gold Coin –

Purchased for: $832.45

PFS paid me: $845

eBay price for selling both coins November 2020: ~$1150

Total eBay costs: $87.70

If I sold these coins today on eBay after the fees: $981.05

I would gain $60.90

If I sold these coins on eBay instead of PFS, I would’ve gotten slightly more money for the small chance I could get scammed.

Order from the US mint on 1/24/2019:

Apollo 11 50th Anniversary 2019 Five Ounce Proof Silver Dollar –

Purchased for: $1129.70

PFS paid me: $1160

eBay price for selling the coin November 2020: ~$280

Total eBay costs: $46.42

If I sold this coin on eBay today after the fees: $233.38

I would lose: $896.32

Damn. Not only did I make a small profit selling this coin in particular to PFS, but I dodged a huge bullet. If I had tried to hold onto this coin I would’ve lost some big money.

Order from the Us mint on 9/06/2018:

American Eagle 2018 One Ounce Palladium Proof Coin –

Purchased for: $1392.45

PFS paid me: $1443.00

eBay price for selling the coin November 2020: $2950

Total eBay costs: $328.85

If I sold this coin on eBay today after the fees: $2621.15

I would gain: $1228.70

I remember when this coin was released, there were eBay sales posting for $10,000+. Now after the hype died down for this coin, it looks like I still would’ve made a profit had I decided to sell it today.

Total scores:

Ebay 2/4

PFS 2/4

If I had tried to sell all the coins on eBay:

I would make $64.39 after totaling up gains and losses

If I sold all my coins to PFS:

I would make $143.45 after totaling up gains

All of this ignores the all-important credit card spend we get to do these offers. A little over 6K worth in the past 3 years and is honestly the real reason I do this. I’ve used PFS coin deals to hit three signup bonuses.

Conclusion:

Coin collecting is a speculative market I don’t really understand. With some of these coin deals you can win big, with others you can lose big. If someone knows what coins are guranteed to always sell for more because they have been a collectible for decades, please comment on this post.

As for this deal, I will be attempting to purchase the American Eagle Gold coin for myself since the internet says these coins consistently sell for more than they are worth and are a staple collectible (they seem to sell for $3000+ regardless of year). But for the American Eagle Silver coin, I will be sending this one to PFS since they tend to not gain as much value over time. Due to this price speculation, I do not fault anyone for selling these coins directly to PFS to avoid dealing with the headache. It really is too much of a hassle trying to decide what coins will sell for more and others for less.

Misleading information that equates all opportunities.
All sources are saying this will be the TOP coin to flip (gold) ever.
Silly to compare it to the other coins.

The silver is not as great but also good.
Instead of comparing "opportunities" a far better comparison is precedent within the same series.
If you research all the silver eagles ever minted (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Silver_Eagle#Mintages) you'll know this is the 3rd least mintage, after last year's famous 30k mintage and the infamous 1995w.

A quick rough estimate:
2019 30k mintage = spike to 2k initially, now sell for 1k all day on ebay
2011 100k mintage = initial spike (forgot exactly but went up very nicely) settled at about 200 raw on ebay

This one will be 75k.
Additionally, and importantly, this is the first "privy" mark ever to be minted.
