Unless it’s a glitch in their system, my guess is that any of the July 29 orders marked “backordered” will be canceled unless other orders are returned or canceled and additional coins become available. All five products had product limits, so the Mint can’t make more.

I’ve been following these coin deals for a few years now and I’ve never seen that happen. I’ve seen orders sit on “processing” for up to a week before shipping and I’ve seen orders canceled because they sold too many and ran out of stock (or other possible shenanigans), but I’ve never seen orders turn into “backordered” for even days, let alone months.

Maybe the Mint got stuck with some expensive unsold coins in the past and changed their processes, but if so, this would be the first time for it.

The Mint has been doing this for at least two years, but I’ve never seen it happen where doing so meant earlier confirmed orders didn’t ship and got canceled. It seems like the Mint does a first pass for people who pay for expedited shipping and then process the remaining orders in a seemingly random order until all confirmed orders ship. I’ve had 12:02 pm orders sit on “processing” for a week and then ship while friends with 12:07 pm orders using the same economy shipping as mine went out five days earlier. But again, “confirmed” has always meant confirmed. Hopefully that hasn’t changed this time.

My order from Jul 20 went on backordered for a few days, then shipped, my Jul 29th order for the 1/10th oz, has 2 of them shipped and 1 backordered, the 2x 1oz is still processing.
