According to our records, you filed a claim for alternative compensation of up to $125 in connection with the Equifax data breach settlement and certified on the claim form that you had some form of credit monitoring or protection in place and will continue to have the credit monitoring in place for a minimum of six months from the date of your claim filing.

If you do not, your claim for alternative compensation will be denied.

Depending on the number of valid claims that are filed, the amount you receive for alternative compensation may be a small percentage of your initial claim.

Thanks for the heads up. Appears to be a move with the intent to disqualify a majority of applicants or bully them into changing their claim. I have the following credit monitoring service, and will disclose that, though I'll bet they will attempt to disqualify these as monitoring services because they are free.

Paypal was going to start issuing 1099-K forms to anyone who exceeded a $600 threshold in transactions over the year. That would have scared many people into reporting whatever amount was shown on the form as income on their tax forms, whether it was really business income or just personal transfers. But the IRS just announced a one year delay in implementation, so for 2022 the threshold will remain at 200 Tx's worth $200k or more.

I'm not giving any tax advice but it's important to be aware that even if you get an official tax form it doesn't necessarily mean the number shown is taxable. Need to reconcile what's on the form to your own records and sechel.

It’s 200 transactions and $20k, not $200k. Also keep in mind that just like the amount on a 1099-K doesn’t mean you’re liable, just because you didn’t get a 1099-K and/or are under the 200 transaction/$20k limit doesn’t mean it isn’t taxable.
