Gibraltar [+Spain/+Morocco?] Trip Advice Please
« on: April 28, 2016, 09:39:42 AM »
Hello everyone :)

We are iy"h planning a trip week of May 8.

Sunday- Thursday.

flying Swiss/Lufthansa or Alitalia arrving sunday noon-ish and out thursday evening-ish.

(another possibility is flying BA into/and/or leave from GIB itself.)

So I have Sunday afternoon until Thursday afternoon.

I'd like to rent a car (I usually rent Hertz, but have seen reports of bad experiences posted? but that could happen anywhere...? and prices seem to vary VERY widely?)

I have read good things about Brunos: http://www.brunoscar.com/reservation/vehicle-selection and they also allow one way rentals AGP<>GIB if necessary as well.

Also, my wife is more of a "relax" person while I like to see things  so i want to see what I can but not try to cram in too much non- stop...

Sunday:
Visit Ronda? stumbled across this and looks very interesting and not far out of the way?
Alhambra (night tour, seems day tours are fully booked up?)

Sleep in Malaga area, or possibly drive at night to GIB? I assume i'll be tired from the flight and touring...

Monday morning:

Drive to GIB

rock, monkeys, lazy morning...? cable car, siege tunnels..?

Tuesday: trip to morocco by ferry for the day? (never been to Africa!)

if i need to do this from Spain (Tarifa, Marbella, etc.) then perhaps do this Wednesday?

Wednesday: Punta Paloma / Tarifa? or do I want to do something else here?

Obviously, unless i leave from GIB, i'd need to be back in AGP thursday afternoon sometime.

also came across this, might be interesting for sunday and monday night, if I don't need more then a day for GIB?

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and insights!!

I cant tell if you have too much crammed in here or not enough. Also a car rental is going to be expensive and prob not needed for this.
GIB doesnt need more then a day or two. And Tangier where the ferry lands is a port town with nothing to do unless your going as a quick cross off my list type. I personally would take a flight direct to Morocco or to GIB and take the sunday evening flight from GIB to Morocco and spend until Tuesday morning there, then spend until Thursday morning in GIB and do some touring in Spain enroute to AGP airport.

Where in Morocco? which airport?

I can fly tlv-morocco andf then morocco-gib and the agp-tlv (also seems easier to fly morocco-agp then to gib?)

but how would I get from GIB to agp? taxi? or is there a better way, if renting a car is not a good idea?

Thanks!

If you have time then RAK, if in a rush and doing the ferry or one day go to CMN. Direct flights to GIB are only twice a week.
AGP-GIB can be done cheaply in a bus or around 100 euro for a driver.

this doesn't seem easily doable (tlv-rak/cmn sunday, somehow rak/cmn to gib on monday/tuesday...) or even if i play with teh dates, it doesn't seem to work well with a malage/gib trip.

or should i be searching another site besides kayak and google flights?

I could probably to rak.cmn-agp and then leave again from agp and drive both ways to GIB--- or leave back home from GIB itself, but if i do that, i need to leave GIB much earlier thursday to be home for shabbos...

I can do something like this, possibly... (not talking price, talking route of course) :)

thank you!
