I am planning an extended trip to South America from anywhere between a few months to half a year next year. My issue is not figuring out how to get to south america from the US, but what to do and what mileage/points programs to use while staying and moving around in South America. As a result, I was wondering if anyone had any experience or could recommend what points/ mileage system works best while in a particular south american country or from going from one south american country to other. If there are any banks points, airline miles, bus, hotel points, car rental points, etc that would be best to stock up for now for this trip, I would really appreciate it.
