New Park Hyatt!!!
« on: March 21, 2011, 12:29:53 PM »
Effective 04/01 there's a new Park Hyatt...in the Maldives!!!

The Alila Villas Hadahaa is rebranding as a Park Hyatt!
The place looks gorgeous: http://www.alilahotels.com/hadahaa/gallery

Here's hoping that Hyatt doesn't make a higher points category (paid rates are $$$$$) and that suite upgrades work for overwater bungalows! And that they'll get free kosher meals for diamonds!

So who's getting a Hyatt Visa to go here :D

looks like they charge close to $1000 for "transfers", I guess becuase they are 400km from MLE they have to get you there somehow.
Also, where is this info from?  Is it legit?
And which airlines fly there-on award tickets obviously!

HyattConcierge on Twitter says "At this time we have not designated the hotel a point category."

If not Category 6 then what?

+1 on hoping they don't do what so many other chains have done...

Austrian flies to MLE?
I know BA does from LGW and SQ does from SIN.  Who else flies?
I think Austrian is seasonal.

That you can redeem miles on, Aeroflot, China Southern, Qatar, Malaysian.
Could be more.
If you are buying a ticket, there are a bunch of the little airlines.

Ouch, $931.50 for transfers for 2 adults!  I wonder if that will change under Hyatt?
Multiple sources have confirmed.

Star: Singapore flies SIN-MLE, Austrian flies VIE-MLE, Swiss flies ZRH-MLE.
OW: BA flies LGW-MLE.
ST: Aeroflot flies SVO-MLE.
Emirates flies DXB-MLE.

So the transfer fee covers a 1 hour plane ride from MLE and a 1 hour speed boat.

Still, if Hyatt only charges 22K points for this and if they accept credit card nights/FFNs it's still an amazing bargain.

The reviews on Trip Advisor are amazing: http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g298571-d1473123-Reviews-Alila_Villas_Hadahaa-Male.html

I'm just comparing it to Bora Bora.  The St. Regis there is 70K-140K SPG per night.  Plus you need a $500 flight from PPT-BOB as no airline flies that route with miles.  Plus there are $$ transfer fees to get from BOB to the hotel.  This should be a fraction of that.

As I am going to the maldives in 2 month and did alot of research here a few points. As its really far and expensive you will need to plan it in advance and you cant only go for 2 days. With most airlines its impossible to get miles seats.

Swiss does not fly to MLE, its Edelweiss Air codeshare Swiss. You cant book with miles
Austrian, impossible to get seats with miles
Singapore, is also impossible to get miles seats in advance
Ba, possible in low season. They onlyu fly 3 times a week and from Gatwick. As most international flights arrive in Heathrow, you will have to transfer with a bus and luggage to gatwick. They fly a plane without F
Emirates has decent avail. with their standart miles, so quite expensive. Its also almost impossible to get Business as a saver award

Every hotel charges for a transfer, depending on distance from MLE airport. The resort I am going to is a little closer, so a transfer is only 360 p.p. with a seaplane. No hotel does it for free as they pay the airline for the transport. So there is no way around it. If you pick a resort close to the airport, they will pick you up with a speedboat for less.

As running such a hotel on its own island costs alot of moeny, I dont think they will let you use a free night from a CC or charge 22000 points only. Even if they do, the cost of getting to the maldives and all other stuff you will do there is expensive.

In the maldives a brand name is not worth it, as there are much nicer resorts for less money

Based on what?
Hyatt has other hotels that cost $1,000+ per night that all work with Hyatt Visa nights or 22,000 points.

Maybe they will. The hotel has almost no rooms, so not to many will be available. As its expensive to get there ( 2 Flights ) I dont really think to many people will use it. As the hotel arranges the seaplane transfer, after getting the reservation it will be hard to book the room from Mister Brechers account and ask the hotel to arrange tickets for Yanki and Lea Bodner, they would say right away the booking is for Mister Brecher.

50 total rooms, I wonder if this is the smallest Hyatt in the world?

Also you can use hyatt points to book for anyone and hyatt points are fully transferable as well.

Lucky is predicting 33K a night with a minimum night requirement, 33K is the cost for a category 6 suite.

Still better then Starwood's ridiculous cheshbon of making certain properties their own category because its all suites and then doubling the required points because its a suite...

PH Maldives DO anyone?

Gotta book those Emirates tickets before the CO/UA partnership ends!
Worth stopping off in DXB along the way?

I'm in but we'd first have to make a thread discussing the pros/cons of bringing up children in the Maldives.

I dont think they will let you use a free night from a CC
Quote from: Hyatt Diamond Offer
The Hyatt Card was designed with the international traveler in mind. That means whether you're paying for a cab or purchasing a few souvenirs, you'll never be charged a foreign transaction fee.
In addition, we'll give you two nights in a suite at any Hyatt property anywhere in the world, after using your card the first time.

Don't see how they can wriggle out of this one.
Getting excited to use the 2 suite nights in an OWB at the PH Maldives!
