Anybody else received this from LY?
Looks like some kind of general compensation following a successful class action regarding fees
I did (and quite a few others I know did, too). But I got an error while filling out the form.

Will it be an issue if I left out my middle name on my El Al ticket?
Passport has my middle name but ticket has no middle name.

Does this mean El Al is exploring a new US destination?

You will need a Y/S/M class to be eligible for upgrade, and you will need R space to clear the upgrade. I think you need 700 Matmid points to upgrade.

Found this in beginning of thread & wondering, is it still accurate? If I'd like to purchase (pay, not points) an up-gradable economy ticket, which class does it need to be? Also, how much more (generally) do up-gradable tickets cost than non up-gradable? .... and one more, What can I do with 280 Matmid points? Can they be used for an upgrade? Or are there other uses? Thank you to anyone who takes the time to respond.

Y/S/M classes are still required for upgrade to business class.
You could also use M/S for an upgrade to Premium class.

If you live in Israel you can use 280 for promo price to nearby destinations. Otherwise I'd use them for duty free shopping on board.

There are travel agents in this group better suited to say how much Y/S/M cost, but I would say easily over $2k

S is no longer full fare (recently changed), and M is generally more than 3k. If you're looking for cheap business, you can buy the lowest fare available, and go to manage my reservation on the LY website, and put in a cash bid for an upgrade through Plusgrade.
IME, it won't give you the option to bid if there's an infant attached to the booking.

Thank you Tavster & Yandmk!

So let me get this straight - I'm purchasing an economy ticket, likely less than $1400 (so probably won't be Y/M/K classes), so I won't be able to use the 280 points to upgrade to even premium economy (if EL AL has it, or it's equivalence), is that correct?
And what is the LY website mean (what does LY stand for)?
Also, what kind of duty free shopping can one do once on board? Buy an alchohol drink to drink during the flight?

Not very familiar with the way these things work as you can tell.... Thank you again!

LY stands for El Al

That's right, if your ticket costs less than 2-3k you cannot upgrade it.

They have a lot of products to buy on board: alcohol, cigarettes, perfumes etc. 280 points is worth roughly $90 of products IIRC

Ok, thanks. Any other ideas as to what I can do with EL AL points since they're expiring in Feb? Can I transfer them to a diff. airline, other program, or use on a shopping portal?
