Need feedback on El AL:
Hi everybody,
Looking to book my first trip to Israel and have read a lot of negative reviews about El AL (especially related to inability to get refunds on airfares).
Here are my questions:
1) Is the airline comfortable & reliable? I would be traveling business call. This is physically a hard trip for me this is really important.
2) El Al has reasonable non-stop fares from EWR/JFK/MIA to TLV in business class. However, I need to get from TPA to any of those connecting flights. When I add my origin point of origin (TPA), the fare goes up dramatically. Is there any way to originate in Tampa and keep the fare reasonable and still be protected if there is a delay, especially w/ luggage? (ie... book through partner airline or

)
3) I would buy trip cancellation insurance but not sure that would cover El Al airline if they are supposedly selling a refundable ticket. My guess is my insurance would say that my responsibility is to collect from airline for refundable tickets and I would be screwed if they are so unreliable.
Thanks for putting my mind at ease with the possibility of flying El Al. Again, I don't want to fly the equivalent of Spirit or Allegiant to Israel.
