what agreement would preclude an airline from adding a new CC?
They know, we discussed it extensively. The previous buffoons locked them into a bad long-term deal.

How much would it cost them to break that deal? The same as it would cost Alaska to break their deal?
I'm not privy to that information, but I'm sure the penalties must have been onerous in the case of the former, while the latter could have been free with 6 months notice.

On a US CC?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

US Bank has been upping their CC game recently. Maybe they can revive this with something better.

I actually had this card and earned about 10K points per month. But since 8/30/23 the stopped working with LY.

Have a quick connection (different airlines etc), if I miss the flight what options does ELAL usually allow? Next available flight (as with most American airlines)? or will I lose the ticket? `

Same itinerary, or two different tickets?

should the prices be the same via a travel agent? I recently reached out to one and the rates were significantly higher
I believe that the prices were similar. Our agent charged a nominal fee for their service (well worth it)

not related tickets at all
Or better yet...With the latest change/cancelation allowance, Cant I book for a later flight, and if I make it it on time just ask the gate to change it and allow me on earlier flight (besides cost difference)?

Officially one the ticket is no showed (even by a minute) they charge $250 to reopen in
The only written exception is if one mixes up days for a 12am ticket
I have heard cases of agents allowing so YMMV especially for standby for the earlier flight

Lol, I had a 50/50 shot with that guess.

Guilty as charged.  If you go into the card's thread, I updated that US Bank closed down the entire product unilaterally and didn't even offer to PC to something else.  This was back in August or September if I'm not mistaken.  They didn't even do it very gracefully, I had to chase them down for an annual fee refund and they refused to even credit me with the 40 El Al points (I guess 2K new points?) that are supposed to be given annually.  The card was pretty barebones, but the one key advantage was all points earned with it had no expiration, like the good old days.  I had thought it was a glitch at first, but there was actually some kind of mention of it in the fine print.  It also offered the same benefits as Fly Card Premium in Israel, but no monthly spend requirement to maintain them (lower award pricing, free economy+ seating at the gate upon availability, etc.). Besides that, spending $200K on the card to get Gold was unrealistic, of course.

Can't help it if they're incompetent.
Speaking of incompetence..

I have tickets to JNB - looking at the Upgrade options to business I am offered 50,000 points + $650 (!!), when the price in X class, which is available, is 76,000 + $32, and my tickets were 26,000 +$32.

So I understand how they came up with the 50k figure - but the $650 add-on makes zero sense

And speaking a bit more about incompetence, is their English CS line any use? I’ve found the Hebrew one to be great but they only handle same-day flights during the night hours in Israel. I’m currently 30 minutes on hold for the English line and wondering if it’s worth the wait.
Update: indeed incompetent. Will try my luck with the Israeli line tomorrow.

What is your question?

You can submit a bid (and adjust if you want)
36 hours before they process all the bids and decide if they accept your offer
