I don't think it is that simple. the 321XLR could probably do LIS, DUB, and MAN/ for example without breaking a sweat. This frees up widebodies for North America and Asia. I think if it was that simple, it would've been announced in that order as well as the more planes they buy the bigger discount you get. Many loyal boeing customers are jumping ship and elal has to do whats best for them at the end of the day.

While it’s true that the destinations you mentioned are stretching the limits of the 737s, they were never using widebodies for those routes.

Looking to book elal via alaska but only two premium seats available. We are a family of 5 and premium prices for those dates are farely good. Is there any big risk in splitting up the reservations (booking two of us via AS miles and 3 via elal)? We have young children so we definitely don't want to get split up under any circumstances. Is there a way to link the two reservations? Thanks.

Don't think there's a way to link it but I know a lot of people that flew ELAL recently and no one had any issues getting bumped or anything, only slight risk can be a schedule change but you'll all be on the same flight either way
